For over eight years Mint has been something of a local institution, tucked away near the corner of Crown and Cleveland Street in Surry Hills, Sydney. On Saturday and Sunday breakfast draws a large and eclectic crowd whilst throughout the week lunch also sees the place fill up quickly as the simple yet tasty food keeps locals coming back each day. Favourite dishes include the Breakfast Couscous, and the Spicy Lamb Mince with Hummus, while Ras el Hanout Grilled Chicken and the Couscous Salad with Haloumi are among the popular choices for lunch.

Dinners, from Tuesday to Saturday, retain all the popular meze choices and adds beautifully crafted and presented main courses featuring slow cooked tagine style dishes such as lamb shoulder, duck leg or beef cheek. Mainly from the Mod Med repertoire, the cuisine has strong influences coming from the southern and eastern shores of the Middle East; Morocco to Turkey and beyond. Flavours are intense (but not hot) showing the deft use of spices that has been the hallmark of Cafe Mint’s cuisine and a brief but comprehensive wine list completes a memorable dining experience.

Regular changing specials reflect seasonal produce and owner/chef Yoni Kalfus’ Israeli roots, not to mention his love of desserts!

Recently renovated with a beautiful new wine bar by the front door and a more spacious layout, larger tables, warm lighting and clean natural lines, Mint is ideally suited to provide a venue for a group celebration, an intimate dinner for two or even a quick bite at the bar on the way home from work.

We are now licensed with a select list of well matched wines to complement the food with many available by the glass. There is the option to BYO with corkage $7 per bottle.

Please note: We accept dinner reservations for between 6pm to 7pm only. Due to how busy we can get, tables can only be held for 10 minutes. Groups of six or more will need to book and will be required to have a set menu . Larger groups (more than 12) should consider a 9pm booking .
